What is Cowboy Poetry?

(from bookspot.com)

Cowboy poetry started as an Old West tradition. One site calls it "a jazz of Irish storytelling, Scottish seafaring and cattle tending, Moorish and Spanish horsemanship, European cavalry traditions, African improvisation, and Native American experience." And even though true cowboys may be rare these days, the genre is alive and well.

For a good introduction, visit CowboyPoetry.com, which offers the largest collection of cowboy poetry on the Web.
