Not everyone is obsessing about the weather. At least for a day, Zora Neale Hurston was also on a lot of people's minds.
A stylish Google doodle of the late author and anthropologist apparently made Hurston a leading Twitter topic for much of the day Tuesday, competing for attention with the polar vortex and Sony's upcoming PlayStation Now.
The doodle marked the 123rd anniversary of Hurston's birth.
Best known for the novel "Their Eyes Were Watching God," Hurston died in poverty in Florida in 1960. Alice Walker later helped restore her reputation and introduce her to a new generation of readers.
"Their Eyes Were Watching God" remains a widely taught book and was in the top 200 on Amazon.com's bestseller list as of late Tuesday afternoon.
note: there are 54 editions of this book and I do not know how many different covers/cover art. I picked the one that was at the top of the list. If you have read it maybe you recognize a different cover.
