NPR’s Cokie Roberts comes to Cambridge, Mass., to celebrate the publication of her new children’s book, “Founding Mothers: Remembering the Ladies.” She’ll be signing copies at Porter Square Books, and WBUR is delighted to join in the fun by serving milk and cookies provided by Cafe Zing!
Illustrated by Caldecott-winning artist Diane Good and based on Cokie’s best-selling book for adults on the same topic, “Founding Mothers” recounts the Revolutionary accomplishments of Abigail Adams, Martha Washington, Phillis Wheatley and many more. Though they may not have signed the Declaration of Independence, these wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters contributed mightily behind the scenes. Details of their lives are gleaned from their letters, private journals, lists and ledgers, all woven together in Cokie’s inimitable voice.
Bring your daughters for a great taste of history – and great-tasting cookies, too.
This event is free, but registration is required. And space is limited – register here now to reserve your spot here.
