I always though it was such a weird thing on a book tour to have one whole person handling a cover reveal. It cannot be that big of a deal. But it is.
It just occurred to me, believe it or not, that that is the first thing people see. And from this they decide, or it is part of the decision and a big part I believe, if they want to buy the book or not. I am guilty of passing over books with lame covers. But I know I am not the only one. And with the amount of book series that are now so popular, people are not only waiting for the next book to come out but the next book cover as well.
If an author decides to do a cover reveal, you can usually find a picture of the cover but it is a temporary one or a fake if you will.
The cover is also important because I believe the publisher gets a say in your cover. I was looking at the Pinterest site of a friend of mine who is also an author and I saw the original cover for one of her books. She stated she liked it much better and you know what? So did I. Maybe I can get the story from her and then show you both book covers and you can decide which one you like. I think I know why the publishers liked the cover that got used better and I believe it was because people recognized a certain object on the cover and associated it with something fun. Or at least something very recognizable. More so than the other cover.
I hope you will enjoy the cover reveals because I will be doing a lot more of them. It is even more fun knowing you have secret information. I just blogged about a cover reveal I will be doing and I have the information now. I could post it today if I wanted to but it is not set to post for a few days. (But I would get in trouble I am sure!). I feel like I am in the CIA with my top secret information. Tehe.
I hope, as I always do, that you will comment and let me know if you like the cover reveals. Not all tours have them. But I am going to grab what I can so I can show them to you.
