The Reading of a Historical Fiction Book.

I had posted a few days ago all the books I was currently reading.

One I am still reading is called "Buried Appearances" by D.E. Haggerty. Just to refresh your memory:

Skylar Dewitt has been ostracized her entire life due to her grandfather’s well-known sympathies with the Nazis. But now her grandfather’s body has been recovered in the Netherlands in an area famous for being a Nazi killing ground. Why would her grandfather be buried in a place legendary for assassinations of resistance members? Skylar jets off to Holland in search of answers about her grandfather’s demise. Along the way she finds long-lost family and old friends but will she solve the mystery of what happened to her grandfather? And maybe she discovers something more valuable than resolving any mystery could be: herself.

The problem I did not foresee is I do not know much about history. I have no clue how I got A's in school in History class. I never liked it. I will honestly tell you I probably do not know what a regular person would consider common knowledge. My husband is the history fanatic and I thank him for turning on The History Channel and showing me shows I may be interested in. I wish he could read this book with me. I may have some questions for him.

This book is heavily centered around occurrences in and around the time of World War 2, more specifically, Germany and the Nazis.

So this is classified as historical fiction but there are some facts I recognize. I do know that. So how important is it for the review that I know the actual history as compared to the fictional history. It is just a question I have asked myself. I am sure the answer will reveal itself to me in time. In fact I am hoping once they get past all of this history, there will be more story.

I would probably pick a book in this genre again because I like it a lot. But at least I will be prepared, at least I think, for it next time. But then again, if it was fashion history would I be as worried? I know just a little more about fashion then I do about history lol! So I hope that since it is fictional that it does not matter what I know and do not know.
