A Gift For Me Today

I have so many books that I have not only won, but that very generous authors have given to me to read for a review, and do not push a deadline, I feel guilty when I buy a book for myself. I have not since I discovered goodreads.com. So I have not brought a book since 10/17. And trust me I have plenty to read. Okay truth be told, I may have buckled to a 99 cent horror deal once or twice. But it was worth it! But if you have been reading my mad blogging today, you will see I received my copy of Neil Gaiman's American Gods. How I came to get this book is interesting. I looked at a list of my A-Z books for my 10/29/13-10/29/14 Reading Challenge that I have in a folder and a good portion of the ones on the first list are already books I had purchased or won and decided I liked them enough to add to the list. Or in some cases, books that were gifted, and they landed on the list. But I have two other books coming. I really should get past my 10/29/13-10/29/14 list A-Z Reading Challenge book A first. I am on page 93. It is about 600 pages long. It will come in good time. Things will slow up as far as commitments for reading and I will have my time to read. I know I ordered two more books but I can only remember the name of one. And as if I were being punished for spending not even 4 dollars on myself, I already had one of the books on Kindle. I just about fell over when I saw that book in my Kindle. I will be checking Kindle before I order anymore books.

As you see not only have I been sleeping for four days and not feeling well for five now, I seem to be up today, in bed and resting, but awake and devouring the web for any sort of book information I can find. I feel like I missed out on my energy drinks or something. A lot going on in the book world! Plus I am also looking up my fun things I do, and anything I think you will find interesting. Plus my reading that I am doing before I promised hubby my *gulp* work time to decorate. I am so afraid all my energy will drain out right there and the rest of the day I will sleep. I am just being honest. I hope I decorate and it is fun and beautiful and I come right back up here and work. But onto sharing with you these two books one that I already have on Kindle but will be coming in the mail. And to be honest, I do not mind paying for it twice because I love to hold my books. And, as you know, keep them in the bed with me for when I wake up in the middle of the night. Which is making me think of a funny Drabble by Jonathan Hill that I read not even 15 minutes ago where a lady talks about being able to touch and smell the book, and her daughter says she is getting nose prints on the Kindle. I laughed so hard.

So the one book that I have dos (Spanish for two? lol! I am trying here!) of is Orange by Elizabeth Seer.

Like a sunset, or a bomb blast, you can't look away from "Orange". With a reminiscent soundtrack and a relatable (though blindly infuriating) nature, Sugar Honey Candy’s odyssey will move you from the corruption and sins of her youth, down the unusual and winding road of her enlightenment. You will be captivated and horrified by the choices and means of her existence. Her journey is lived through myriad experiences, but the rollercoaster of emotions along the way will leave you wondering whether to hug her or shake her.

Many women will connect with Sugar’s story (probably quite uncomfortably and not quite truthfully). She reminds us that those things we are exposed to from a young age will color our world for the rest of our lives. For Sugar Honey Candy that color is orange.

And the book I just got for my Kindle was a random book on a random site that seems like it is appealing to the comic book girl in me. But it looks so interesting. I was glad to read it is the start of a series. Not to mention it got many 5 star reviews from all kinds of sites. That book is Gailsone: Big in Japan by Casey Glanders.

Alice Gailsone was Dyspell, the most dangerous and feared woman in the world. She was infamous for being the second in command of the Purge, the most vile terrorist organization on the planet. At least she was, until she abruptly retired for reasons unknown...

Alice Gailsone is now a buyer and trader of rare gemstones with the help of her adopted niece, Allison. She lives a boring, low-key life and does her best to stay out of trouble.

At least she did, until she was approached by Alan Tanner, powerful business tycoon by day and dangerous vigilante Blackthorne by night, with an offer she cannot refuse: Put together a team of former super villain- turned-heroes in exchange for access to the one thing on the planet that could save her mother's life.

Her first assignment is the Lotus, a deadly assassin for Japan's premiere criminal empire, the Dead Talon. In her way is a powerful corporate giant, an army of trained soldiers, a cult of murderous Kitsune and an unknown force moving in the shadows. To survive, she’ll need to pull everything out of her bag of tricks: guns, magic, cunning and more. Even with a terrifying and destructive power resting just beneath her fingertips, it may not be enough.

She is out of practice, out of her element, and running out of time...

Big In Japan is the first in a series of Action/Adventure Urban Fantasy novels about the Gailsone family. Join Alice as she deals with mob bosses, mercenaries, magic-related problems, golems, Kitsune, grumpy fortune tellers and the occasional firefight. Follow along as secret plots and sinister forces worm their way out of the shadows to test not only Alice, but the other 'heroes' of the Gailsone universe. A larger plan is unfolding with terrifying implications for the world, and Alice, whether she likes it or not, is stuck smack dab in the middle.

So check out my books, maybe you will be interested in them too. Or if you have already read them I would love to know. Just comment in the comment section. If these are not your cup of tea let me know also. I have a whole second A-Z Challenge List that runs 1/1/14-1/1/15 and is STRICTLY recommendations from friends, authors (that are friends too!), and readers of my blog. So get your suggestion in. Neither list is finalized yet but I have recommendations coming in. I have most genres covered. But maybe you will be the one to bring me a very special book. By the way, on the second A-Z list, you will be credited any way you want when I finally publish the list. I am trying to get a contest going to I am just not sure what. But this is me we are talking about :)
