Kanpur University will hold its 28th convocation ceremony on December 23 and the event will be presided over by Uttar Pradesh Governor BL Joshi.
Padma Bhushan awardee and CSIR Bhatnagar Fellow at National Chemical Laboratory (Pune) Dr Raghunath Ananth Mashelkar will be the main speaker at the function, university Vice-Chancellor Ashok Kumar said. At the function, 88 medals will be given to meritorious students, he said.
The convocation ceremony will be preceded by convocation week which began on the campus on Tuesday, he said. The first day of the week was marked by the inauguration of an audio visual laboratory for visually impaired children and a book exhibition. The book exhibition will continue till December 19.
A cultural programme will also be held on the day. A 'kavi sammelan' (poets' meet) will be held on December 20 and 21. A documentary film prepared by university students and teachers will be shown on December 23.
Moreover, university's first newsletter will also be launched during this period
