Christmas Books

After posting today the link to the blog that had the weird and probably scary Christmas books, I started thinking. Who is reading that? I am sure somebody is. But here is the thing.

I have already told you in previous blogs that I purchased Children's books from Toys R Us to cheer me up. And I mentioned (and reviewed) the free Amazon Christmas book that I found two days ago. I also told you about "Six by Suess" which has How The Grinch Stole Christmas which I was going to buy separately if I did not see the collection Six by Suess first. What I did not tell you was yesterday, I ordered three Christmas books. They were older children's Christmasbooks. The delivery was free on Amazon (which is expensive and I try not to order from there) if you purchased over $35.00 worth of merchandise. I really do not have that money to spend, but these books...the reviews were so good and I was hoping, despite the fact that the delivery date read December 24, I was hoping with all my hope that the books would get here earlier than that. Maybe today?

This goes back to one of my previous blogs about staring a Christmas tradition by buying maybe one or two Christmas books each year, especially if you have children But why not start the tradition myself? Not only can I read children's books, but I can read carefully picked adult books like one I mentioned in a blog of mine, that I have not got to yet (not happy about that) Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes. Well I still have 7 more days to try to read that. I really would like to. I did start it. I wish I would have thought ahead of time because I would have maybe not started other books, or not promised I would read a book for a friend or two who are authors, or signed up for book tours.

The funny thing is I am looking forward to these Christmas books like you would not believe! I was thinking of reading them after Christmas but now I will have a little extra fun and festivity to put away for next year. Knowing myself, I will have to write a note and put it maybe on the fridge so I know where the Christmas books are. Knowing me I will put them in a "safe place" and never find them for years. That is a thinker. Where do Christmas books go? On the shelf with the other books, or with the Christmas decorations in the attic? I will have to think on that and get back to you.

I also plan to look at book sites after Christmas hoping holiday books will be on sale. This is a first for me. Some of you may be laughing because you already know what I will run into, but I would imagine not many people are buying holiday books in the Spring or Summer so it would make sense they would take advantage of the time of year to drop prices or in the case of Kindle, give the books away for free.

I usually watch Christmas specials and that is enough Christmas cheer for me. I think it is the fact that I can read this year that the books are so important to me. Or the want of having the whole month be about Christmas. I can still watch my movies and specials, but there is so much time for reading Christmas books too.

So as I patiently wait for Santa Claus, I will be impatiently waiting for my Christmas books. And I will be very prepared next year for a whole month of Christmas book reading.

Just a note: I am definitely going to check out the weird Christmas books too. You did not think I could leave them alone did you? If you thought so, you do not know me too well yet.
