(as seen in The Chicago Tribune)
The Chicago Tribune invites writers to enter short stories in our annual Nelson Algren Short Story Contest.
Stories are judged blind and there is no entry fee. (Writers can enter two stories.) We award one winner ($5,000), three finalists ($1,500 each) and six runners-up ($500). All stories will be considered for publication in the Chicago Tribune.
Details: Previously unpublished short fiction; no more than 9,000 words. Click Here For More Specific Rules
Deadline: Feb 1.
Also, we hope that you will consider subscribing to our weekly 24-page literary supplement, Printers Row Journal, with its Fiction insert. A digital subscription is available at $29 a year, and you’ll get not only our 2014 Algren winners, but an original short story every week of the year.
