Guest Post with author Savannah Young

I am pleased to have with me today author Savannah Young. I met Savannah while doing a book blitz for her new book Wilde Riders. We wrote back and forth a bit and got along well and I asked her if she would like to come her to my blog for a guest post. Obviously she said yes. I have a copy of her book and I cannot wait to get started! Before I put up this great post, let me tell you a little bit about Savannah. Romance novelist Savannah Young grew up in rural northwest New Jersey in a place very similar to the fictional Old Town, which is featured in her books. When she's not at her computer creating spicy stories, Savannah is traveling to exotic locales or spending time with her husband and their bloodhounds. The following is a guest blog post by author Savannah Young.

Move Over Chick Lit…Make Room for Hick Lit

After spending the last year writing and publishing eleven romance novels using the pen name Dakota Madison I made the decision to start the New Year with a new pen name…Savannah Young. When I made the announcement, it was almost as if I could hear a collective gasp from cyberspace. Why would I start over with a brand new pen name when I spent a year branding Dakota Madison?

I learned a lot writing 12 novels in 12 months (and publishing 11 of them). Most of what I learned came from mistakes I made along the way. I’m always one to experiment and I thought of my year writing as Dakota Madison as one big experiment. Now I’m taking everything I learned and using it in a much more deliberate way to launch romance novelist Savannah Young and the Old Town Country Romance series.

My idea for the Old Town Country Romance series (and the first novel in the series, WILDE RIDERS) came about out of frustration as a reader. I was tired of reading unrealistic stories about sexy, young billionaires and bad-boy rock stars, which seemed to have flooded the marketplace. I wanted to read about small-town guys, who drive pickups and hang out at the local bar on Friday nights and play country music.

It was my desire to read about regular guys, not guys with chauffeurs and billions in the bank, but guys who drive Dodge Rams and work hard for a living, that lead me to write WILDE RIDERS. The novel is about four Wilde brothers, their small-town bar and their local country band. Each novel in the series focuses on one of the four brothers.

I affectionately call my new novel Hick Lit: realistic romances that feature loud trucks, cold beer and hot guys. I think WILDE RIDERS provides readers with a nice alternative to the more dark and disturbing stories that have become so popular, particularly in the New Adult romance genre. Old Town Country Romances are stories with a little spice and lots of heart. I hope romance lovers will enjoy reading about the Wilde brothers as much as I enjoy writing about them!

What a great post! A new genre - Hick Lit! I really cannot wait to read Savannah's book now. Those are the kind of guys that swept me off my feet. Big truck, beer drinkers, etc. Savannah has hit the nail on the head.. I want to thank Savannah so much for being here today. I really enjoyed the post and I hope everyone else does too.
