It occurred to me that, before I post my reviews, it might be nice to share with you what I am reading. I read 2-6 books at a time because I am able to. At one point, one gets really good and gets all my time. Before that, I read an hour or two of one each every day. So right now I am reading:
The Wet and The Dry by Lawrence Osborne - This is a book where there is no description. On the front it says under the title "A Drinkers Journey" and on goodreads.com the subheading is "Ventures into Worlds Where Alcohol Is Embraced...or Forbidden". So far the author is in Mumbai talking about drinking there. It is very interesting. I cannot wait to proceed with this book. A note - I won this book from a blog that I frequently read. I would like to get you the name because it is a very good book blog I just cannot find my paperwork right now. But I was surprised and very happy to win this book.
100 One Hundred Word Stories by Jonathan Hill - These are all drabbles - which are 100 words stories. I am on story 18 and I am AMAZED at the complexity of a story that is only 100 words. You can really pack whatever you want into there - humor, sadness, horror, etc. It was in the reading of works by author Michael Brooke and him talking about drabbles on his blog that led me to Jonathan Hill's blog where he and another person are doing drabbles in Advent Calender form. I wrote my first drabble two days ago and got praise from both authors. That made me very happy. I wrote one more on my blog here yesterday and one I wrote last night, but did not put it on my blog yet. They are addicting. And fun. You can find Michael at http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/ and you can find Jonathan at http://www.jhillwriter.com/p/beyond-eclectic.html. I purchased Jonathan's book two days ago from Amazon.com for $1.51. Honestly, I would have paid more. I would pick this book up now in case the price goes up.
(just a note Amazon has "stories" while on Hill's blog it is "Tales")
Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes by Joanne DeMaio - I already read one holiday book (Jingle Bell Romance) so this is my next one. It is cute so far. Keeping me in touch with the Holiday Spirit! I picked this up when bookbub.com sent me an email of their books for the day that were free or on sale. This book was 99 cents. So far it is worth it and more. Here is the goodreads synopsis
Reluctant to leave her cherished New England hometown after her sister's winter wedding, former journalist Vera Sterling makes a sudden decision. She takes what's left of her severance pay and invests it in real estate ... in one particular drafty colonial home and old timber barn set upon the pretty banks of Addison Cove. In that rough-hewn barn, she discovers a secret treasure left behind by the previous owner, the proprietor of the long-forgotten Christmas Barn gift shop.
While restoring her rundown, wood-sided home--its creaking floors, broken bannister, and neglected widow's walk--that secret slowly unfolds like a bit of snowflake wonder, crystallizing hopes and dreams for many in this small Connecticut town. But mostly for Derek Cooper whose own tragic story has headlined Addison's news. And whom Vera has come to love.
When the first snowstorm hits during Derek's annual Deck the Boats Festival at the cove, residents become stranded. It is then up to Vera to not only bring the town together, but to mend one man's heart she fears she may have lost.
Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes is a heartwarming story, one that reminds us to look to winter's stars. Because snowflakes can grant very special wishes ... if only we believe.
Ruby by Cynthia Bond - This is a very good book so far but because it is very involved, I am going to leave you the goodreads synopsis. I actually won this book, an advanced release copy (it will not be out until April 29, 2014) from goodreads and so far am thrilled that I did! I can see all kinds of interesting events unfolding here.
The epic, unforgettable love story of a man determined to protect the woman he loves from the town desperate to destroy her--this visceral and haunting debut heralds the arrival of a major new voice in fiction
Ephram Jennings has never forgotten the beautiful girl with the long braids running through the piney woods of Liberty, their small East Texas town. Young Ruby, "the kind of pretty it hurt to look at," has suffered beyond imagining, so as soon as she can, she flees suffocating Liberty for the bright pull of 1950s New York. Ruby quickly winds her way into the ripe center of the city--the darkened piano bars and hidden alleyways of the Village--all the while hoping to see the red hair and green eyes of her mother. When the funeral of her childhood best friend forces her to return home, thirty-year-old Ruby Bell will find herself reliving the devastating violence of her girlhood. With the terrifying realization that she might not be strong enough to fight her way back out, Ruby struggles to survive her memories of the town's dark past. Meanwhile, Ephram must choose between loyalty to the sister who raised him and the chance for a life with the woman he has loved since he was a boy.
Full of life, exquisitely written, and suffused with the pastoral beauty of the rural South, Ruby carries the reader along in a rush: through the red dust and gossip of Main Street, to the pit fire where men swill bootleg outside Bloom's Juke, to Celia Jennings's kitchen where a cake is being made, yolk by yolk, that Ephram will use to try to begin again with Ruby. With a sense of the poetry and power of Toni Morrison, an ingenious structure, and a breathtaking, lyrical prose all her own, Cynthia Bond creates an unflinching portrait of man's dark acts and the promise of the redemptive power of love.
Buried Appearances by D.E. Haggerty. I am reading this book for a book tour I signed up for. When I get the book tour notifications, I carefully read the synopsis of the book because, it is YA that is popular so I get a lot of those and I am not a huge fan. I would like to leave the spot open for a fan of that genre. This book was not, however, and that is what attracted me to it. I like it a lot so far. Again, I am going to leave you the goodreads synopsis. I stick with goodreads because they have good synopsis'.

Why would her grandfather be buried in a place legendary for assassinations of resistance members? Skylar jets off to Holland in search of answers about her grandfather’s demise. Along the way she finds long-lost family and old friends but will she solve the mystery of what happened to her grandfather? And maybe she discovers something more valuable than resolving any mystery could be: herself.
There is one other Christmas Book I am reading but I do not want to reveal it yet. It is very long and I do not think I will finish it before NEXT Christmas! lol!
So because I had put up a lot of reviews, it was a coincidence I had finished a lot of books at once. And then I remembered reviews I wrote before I started blogging to goodreads. I still do not have all of those up. Also I have book, a handful that I read and did not review yet so I am going to get to that because they were very good books.
So I hope you enjoyed seeing what I am currently reading. Working on for you my loyal readers. I hope you will check out these books. And I really hope you will leave in the comments section some suggestions of your own book that you have read and would suggest to me. I am always open to suggestions.
I want to direct you in two places. In my archives is a post called "How To Post A Comment" because it is a little confusing I found out to a lot of people. And the other post is my "A-Z Challenge". This is where I would love for you to leave names of books that I can add to my challenge list.
Oh yes I am reading a book from my challenge list too right now but I started off out of the gate and lost speed. Not because of the book, it is fabulous, but because of other commitments. I will reveal that book at another time or you can look at my list. Know that it is one of those A-Z books I could be reading right now. :)
And please visit the two clickable links I left for the both authors, one who I reviewed one of his books, and he did an interview with me and that would be Michael Brookes. And Michael led me to the other author who really introduced me to drabbles and that would be Jonathan Hill. Jonathan will be doing an interview with me shortly so be on the lookout for that. They both have great blogs.
Thank you for letting me share with you.
